Who among our elected Knesset representatives are fighting against the pay-for-supporting-the-slay? by Sheri Oz

First, Israeli taxpayers have to, against our will, participate in pay-for-supporting-the-slay. Even when the Knesset election committee disqualified such terror supporters from running for office, our very own Supreme Court put them back on the ballots. And we will be paying their retirement as well. Second, our mainstream media refrain from informing us about what is going on under our noses in our own country.

We criticize the Palestinian Authority (PA) for giving life-time salaries to terrorists, the amount determined by how many Jews they killed. And if the terrorist was killed in action, then his or her family gets the pension. We protest to foreigners to stop what has come to be called pay-for-slay. Our government even legislated against it in 2018 and since then has withheld transfer to PA banks of tax payments collected by Israel on behalf of the PA equal to the amount the PA pays terrorists. However, when the Corona pandemic seriously affected the general economy of the PA, payment transfers resumed, much to the dissatisfaction of a number of members of the Knesset who claim the law does not allow for freedom of choice in this matter. Mohammad Massad, former Palestinian terrorist and current Israeli citizen who saved the life of an IDF soldier even petitioned the Israeli Supreme Court requesting a stop-payment order.

But who among our elected representatives is fighting against the pay-for-supporting-the-slay that we see in some of those sitting alongside them in the very same Knesset hall?

Something horrifying (but not surprising, unfortunately) just happened in Shfaram this past Saturday (1 August 2020).

This should be enough to get this man thrown out of the Knesset and prevented from ever running again. Sami Abu Shehada of the Joint List, you know, the party bloc that Gantz’s party bloc, Blue&White, wants to rely on for forming a minority government, uploaded a blessing to the mothers of terrorists in honour of Mother’s Day that was celebrated in the Palestinian Authority last Saturday. According to Im Tirzu, the video was first exposed by Makor Rishon reporter Assaf Gibor.

Who Would've Thought Odeh Misleads Tel Aviv Leftists Before Election? - by Sheri Oz

True to form, Odeh distorts the facts to try to proclaim that there has always been a Palestinian people, this time claiming that the flag that represented the Arab Ummah was a Palestinian flag. Nice try, Odeh.

Ayman Odeh, head of the Arab party, the Joint List, held a campaign meeting at a coffee shop in Tel Aviv, seeking to persuade Jewish leftists to vote for them today. I have a lot of problems with this man and other members of the Joint List, but I ask that they at least do not lie. At least refrain from distorting the facts to make yourself seem more palatable to those who are ignorant of what you are trying to sell. And Odeh lied about the Palestinian flag. Here is what he said:

While the Palestinian flag may be a “problematic symbol” due to its use by the Palestine Liberation Organization and the complicated and often violent history between Israel and the Palestinians, Odeh said, it actually predates Israel’s 1948 establishment.

It actually does not.

Hadassah showed no hesitation whatsoever. You break the rules. You suffer the consequences. Why can our elected lawmakers not understand that and make sure Tibi does not get to continue to betray the country that pays his salary and to which he should have pledged allegiance?

The writing has been on the wall for a long time, yet every time complaints are filed with the police against incitement to violence on the part of Israeli Arab members of the Knesset, the police choose to ignore them. In 2008, Israel National News website published an article about Ahmed Tibi entitled, Tibi – Profile of a Brilliant Enemy, in which a few examples were given, such as this one:

On January 11, 2007, Tibi participated in a large gathering marking 42 years since the founding of Fatah, in Ramallah. He called upon Fatah’s terrorists to continue their struggle against Israel, “until all of the Palestinian land is freed.” He accused Israel of murdering Arab babies. “They want to eliminate the Palestinian children, the women and the elderly, en route to the elimination of the ideas of Palestinian freedom and liberty,” he told the crowd.

Anyone who has read the section of the law regarding banning MKs from the Knesset can clearly see how Tibi should be banned (with perhaps even greater basis than the banning of Jewish candidates for the Knesset). Here is the relevant section of the law:

A candidates’ list shall not participate in elections to the Knesset, and a person shall not be a candidate for election to the Knesset, if the objects or actions of the list or the actions of the person, expressly or by implication, include one of the following:

1. negation of the existence of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state;
2. incitement to racism;
3. support of armed struggle, by a hostile state or a terrorist organization, against the State of Israel.

Without doubt, Tibi repeatedly violates point 3 above.

The murder rate in Israeli Arab communities has soared, and most of the responsibility for this dismal fact is assigned by media outlets to the State of Israel and its police. Among those piling on are the “usual suspects”: The Washington Post, The New York Times and other worldwide media.

Citing, in its headline, Israel’s “double standard in policing,” The Washington Post reported that a young Arab man named Ibrahim Mahamid, whose family was embroiled in a feud with another group, was shot twice in the back from a speeding Mazda 5 in the large Israeli Arab town of Umm al-Fahm. Mahamid was just one of the 15 Israeli Arabs murdered in the past month. Negligent Israeli policing was blamed for the tragedy.

It seems that no pathology in the Arab world arises without Israel actions—or inaction—being the cause. Rioters in Gaza try to break through the border to terrorize Israelis? Clearly, Israel’s defensive blockade of Gaza is at fault. A pre-planned, bloody intifada erupts in 2000? Simply the result of an Israeli politician “defiling” the sacred mosque atop the Temple Mount. Israeli buses, pizza joints and discos get blown up, and the press focuses on the evil predations of Israel’s “occupation” or “settlements.”

In this latest spate of violence, Arab gangs in Israeli cities murder each other, Israeli Arab thugs murder Israeli Arab passersby, Israeli Arab tribal groups and clans serially murder one another, Israeli Arab gun and drug deals turn lethal, young Israeli Arab women are murdered by their own families in “honor killings,” and—you guessed it—Israel’s government and police are to blame.

Despite the spin by Arab lawmakers, the Arab sector will benefit more than anyone else from cameras at polling stations. If there is widespread fraud, it's time to end it. If not, we will be proven innocent.

Today, every shopping center, government office, or even parking garage is covered by security cameras. Neighborhood markets, highways, street corners – we are filmed everywhere, dozens of times a day. There is one goal: to help enforce the law and maintain security. It's only natural and reasonable that the place where we choose our representatives in the Knesset and the fate of the nation for the next few years will have cameras. This is not a violation of privacy or anything else. In any case, a record is kept of every citizen who goes in to vote, so why does it matter if there is also visual documentation, in case suspected irregularities of some kind at a polling station should have to be reviewed?

Voter fraud is a criminal matter, and one that is equally relevant nationwide. In this case, there is no difference between Jews and Arabs. Cameras are necessary in every sector. Why is there such resistance to them? It's only a method of prevention and oversight – a camera won't deter anyone from voting, but it could deter people from trying to commit voter fraud.

Supporters of the bill to put cameras in polling stations argue that it will prevent widespread fraud in the Arab sector, and opponents claim that it will harm the Arab sector. But no one is talking about the root of the problem – the seemingly obvious connection the bill has to the Arab sector, which is something that makes me, an Arab-Israeli, feel particularly bad. If anyone should welcome documentation of what happens at the polls, it's the Arab public, and the truth is that we will benefit more than other sectors from the law to install cameras at the polls.

We – who cry out over the government ignoring the rampant crime and violence in our streets, who complain that our communities are the scenes of frequent street fights and gunfights – we are the ones who should support the move, whose sole purpose is to bolster security and limit crime. We suffer from prejudice and harsh accusations, so if indeed there is widespread voter fraud in Arab communities, it's time to put an end to it. If these accusations are baseless, there is nothing to fear – everything is fine, so why shouldn't we prove it? Either way, we gain.
